Sascha Roesler is an architect and theorist, working at the intersection of architecture, ethnography and science studies. He is currently Professor of Architectural Theory at the Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio (Switzerland), with a focus on the history and theory of passive climate control. Sascha received a 1.4 million CHF grant from Swiss National Science Foundation in order to set up a new special research field on passive climate control and the city. From 2013 to 2015 he has been a senior researcher and academic coordinator at the Future Cities Laboratory of ETH in Singapore. Sascha holds a doctorate from ETH Zurich. He studied architecture at ETH Zurich and Theory of Design und Art at the Zurich University of the Arts. His publications comprise a history of ethnographic research conducted by modern architects, «Weltkonstruktion» (Berlin 2013), and a volume on a modern settlement in Casablanca, «Habitat Marocain Documents» (Zurich 2015), which was awarded with the DAM architectural book award 2016 as one of ten outstanding architectural publications of the year. Sascha is also winner of the Swiss Art Award for Architecture, endowed by the Ministry of Culture (Switzerland).
