There are 20 national schools of architecture (6 in the Ile-de-France area and 14 in the other regions) run by the ministry of Culture and Communication.
Students are free to enroll in the school of their choice, within the limits of available places and diplomas required for enrollment.

 

 

Formal education

1. FRENCH OR EUROPEAN CANDIDATES


1st-year admissions:


-holders or preparing a French baccalauréat (A-levels, high-school diploma),
-candidates holders of or preparing a diploma dispensing them from the French baccalauréat,
-or candidates holders of a French or foreign diploma admitted without obtaining the equivalence of a baccalauréat.
- candidates holders of a higher education diploma which does not give them a partial equivalence for studies.

1st-year enrollment takes place in 3 steps:

A / A pre-enrollment procedure at: http://www.admission-postbac.fr for candidates preparing a French baccalauréat (further information from your high-school).

B / Admission file
Collect pre-enrollment file as of the 1st week of February 2015 or :
- download it from the school website,
- directly from the Registrar's office (Petite Ecurie, niveau 2, Administration Hall),
- written request, enclose a stamped envelope addressed to the candidate,
- during the Open Day day on February 1rst.

Pre-enrollment files must be returned completed.
Candidates must pay a fee of 36 € corresponding to file processing expenses by sending a cheque to "l'agent comptable de l'ENSAV" enclosed with the file.
A commission examines files and selects those candidates authorized to take the entrance exam.


C / Entrance exam
Selected candidates undergo an "observation" exam.

Results are published at: http://www.admission-postbac.fr .
Administrative enrollment takes place upon notification in July 2015.

Candidates residing outside France are exempt of this entrance exam.

Partial exemption from studies - Work experience accreditation


This concerns those candidates whose studies, diplomas, professional or personal experience can be validated in view of entering on of the cycles of studies in architecture.
File to collect in February/March 2015 and must be returned completed before March 31, 2015 (proof of postmark).
Mid-May, the work experience or personal accreditation validation commission examines files and notifies candidates by post (partial exemption from studies or not, years or cycles).

Candidates must pay a fee of 36 € corresponding to file processing expenses by sending a cheque to "l'agent comptable de l'ENSAV" enclosed with the file.

Transfers


Transfers are only possible following acceptance by the school requested. Transfer dossiers must be handed in as from April 2015 to the school where the student initially comes from. The commission examines requests along with a brief portfolio of architectural work carried out.
Results of transfer requests are sent by post mid-July.

2. FOREIGN CANDIDATES (non-European)


A / Candidates holders of or preparing a French baccalauréat must follow the same procedure as French or European candidates, see 1


B / Candidates residing abroad
> Log on to the internet site of the 'centres pour les études en France' (CEF) corresponding to the country of residence : http://www.nomdupays.campusfrance.org

> If the country of residence is not concerned by the CEF : collect a yellow dossier from the cultural depts. of French embassies abroad.



C / Candidates residing in France
> Holders of a residency card or a type "D" student visa must pick up a yellow dossier from the architecture school or download it from the site :
http://www.archi.fr/ECOLES/index.html#formulaires


Dossier must be returned completed before January 31, 2015.


Pre-requisite: mastery of spoken and written French. A language assessment is organized in February (except specific cases, candidates coming from French-speaking countries or schools).
Results published end of May 2015.

Administrative enrollment: end of September 2015 after notification.

3. SOCRATES international students


Students who want to take part in the SOCRATES exchange program are sent by their school. The Ensa-v accepts these students in 3rd, 4th and 5th years. The enrollment form must reach the school before June 15, 2015. French is a pre-requisite.
